Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 commercial vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and associated equipment.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution.
- Transport goods to various destinations, maintaining strict delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including hours of service and dangerous goods protocols.
- Perform minor vehicle repairs and maintenance as needed, or report malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the assigned vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Clean driving abstract and criminal record check
- Proficiency in written and verbal English
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions
- Strong understanding of DOT and provincial transportation regulations
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties associated with trucking
- Strong commitment to safety and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., flat deck, dry van, reefer)
- HazMat endorsement (TDG – Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification)
- Previous experience with electronic log devices (ELDs)
- Familiarity with routes in Western Canada
- Excellent customer service skills
