Job Description
Sandy Bank Primary School is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cleaner to join our facilities team for the crucial morning shift. This full-time position is essential for maintaining a pristine and hygienic learning environment for our students, teachers, and administrative staff. As a Morning Shift Cleaner, you will be responsible for ensuring that all school areas, including classrooms, restrooms, common areas, offices, and hallways, are spotless and ready for the day’s activities before students arrive. Your meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to cleanliness will directly contribute to the health, safety, and comfort of everyone in our school community. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing of all assigned areas within the school building, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring all fixtures are disinfected, stocked with essential supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels), and maintained to exemplary hygiene standards.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish in designated areas, adhering strictly to school waste management protocols and recycling guidelines where applicable.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors as required to maintain clarity and a professional appearance throughout the premises.
- Ensure all classrooms, offices, and common areas are tidy, organized, and completely free from clutter before the start of the school day.
- Monitor the condition of the premises and promptly report any maintenance issues, damage, or potential safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Restock cleaning supplies and maintain a highly organized and accessible cleaning cart/storage area.
- Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks such as scrubbing floors, cleaning carpets, and polishing furniture as directed by the facilities manager or principal.
- Collaborate respectfully and effectively with other school staff to ensure a cohesive, supportive, and efficient work environment for everyone.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform general cleaning duties to an exceptionally high standard consistently.
- Basic knowledge of various cleaning chemicals, their appropriate application, and safe handling procedures.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift moderate weights, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively to complete all assigned tasks efficiently.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent secondary education.
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of professional experience in a cleaning or janitorial role, preferably within a school or similar institutional setting.
- A foundational understanding of sanitation standards and best practices specific to educational facilities.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately and carry them out diligently.
- A consistently positive attitude, a respectful demeanor, and a commitment to contributing to a positive and welcoming school environment for all.
