Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, offices, and treatment rooms according to hospital standards and infection control protocols.
  • Dust, vacuum, mop, sweep, and polish surfaces, including floors, walls, windows, and furniture.
  • Empty waste bins, properly dispose of medical and general waste, and replace liners.
  • Clean and disinfect all high-touch surfaces regularly, such as doorknobs, light switches, railings, and medical equipment.
  • Restock supplies in patient rooms, restrooms, and other areas (e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet paper).
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet extractors.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance issues, hazards, or repair needs promptly to supervision.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and infection control policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms for special events or departmental needs as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a thorough approach to cleaning tasks.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe application.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to urgent cleaning needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cleaning attendant, housekeeper, or similar role, especially in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and waste disposal procedures in a medical environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in basic first aid or occupational health and safety.
