Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and analyses on biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) accurately and efficiently.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate sophisticated laboratory equipment and instrumentation, troubleshooting minor issues as needed.
- Adhere strictly to established quality control procedures, ensuring the accuracy, precision, and reliability of all test results.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls according to standard operating procedures.
- Document all test results, observations, and quality control data meticulously in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in test results, referring complex issues to senior technologists or supervisory staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, strictly following all laboratory safety protocols and hazardous waste disposal guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in laboratory science and technology.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding test results, specimen requirements, and other laboratory-related inquiries.
Required Skills
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science field.
- Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT)/Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by ASCP or equivalent national agency.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Clinical Lab Technician in a high-volume laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in performing tests across multiple laboratory disciplines (e.g., Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology).
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and assurance principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and general computer applications.
- Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulatory standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science.
- Experience with specific laboratory automation systems prevalent in modern diagnostics.
- Specialized experience in areas such as Blood Bank or Molecular Diagnostics.
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior staff members.
