Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and salary surveys to ensure competitive compensation structures.
  • Perform detailed job evaluations and analyze job descriptions to determine appropriate salary grades and classifications.
  • Develop and maintain compensation structures, including salary ranges, merit matrices, and incentive plans.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to HR Business Partners and management on compensation-related matters, including new hire offers, promotions, and retention strategies.
  • Analyze compensation data, identify trends, and prepare insightful reports and presentations for various stakeholders.
  • Participate in the annual compensation review process, including budgeting, planning, and administration of salary increases and bonus payouts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local compensation regulations and legislation.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of compensation policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new compensation programs and initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Compensation Analyst or in a similar analytical HR role.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
  • In-depth knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and market benchmarking methodologies.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and compensation management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or in progress.
  • Experience with a global or multi-national organization's compensation practices.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law and specific BC regulations related to compensation.
  • Experience with advanced statistical analysis software or tools.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
