Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures in line with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, implementing corrective action plans where necessary.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and updates, assessing their impact on the organisation and ensuring timely adaptation of policies and practices.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to employees across all levels on compliance matters, ethical conduct, and specific regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and respond to internal and external compliance inquiries, investigations, and regulatory examinations.
  • Oversee the organisation's governance framework, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making processes.
  • Review and approve legal and contractual documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and external regulations.
  • Investigate and report on compliance breaches, working with relevant departments to implement preventative measures.
  • Prepare and present detailed compliance reports to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Foster a strong culture of compliance, integrity, and ethical behaviour throughout the organisation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or similar role, specifically within Audit, Legal, or Governance.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance best practices in the UK.
  • Strong understanding of legal frameworks relevant to corporate operations, data protection (GDPR), and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate complex compliance risks.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective compliance training programs.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in compliance (e.g., ICA, CAMS, CCEP).
  • Experience working within a regulated industry sector (e.g., financial services, healthcare, legal).
  • Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with corporate governance structures and board-level reporting.
