LSP Construction (Pty) Ltd. is seeking a motivated and hardworking Construction Assistant to join our growing team in Quthing. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for individuals eager to learn the trade and contribute to significant local projects. As a Construction Assistant, you will play a crucial supporting role in our on-site operations, working closely with skilled tradespeople and site supervisors. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth daily flow of work, from preparing materials to maintaining a safe and organized site. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, masons, plumbers, electricians) with various tasks on the construction site.
- Safely load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment around the site.
- Prepare work areas by clearing debris, erecting temporary structures, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Operate hand and power tools under direct supervision, following all safety protocols.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform general labor duties such as digging, sweeping, mixing materials, and site clean-up.
- Support the maintenance and basic upkeep of site machinery and tools.
- Follow instructions from site supervisors and senior team members accurately and efficiently.
- Contribute positively to team morale and maintain a cooperative and productive work atmosphere.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or unsafe conditions on site immediately.
Required Skills
- High level of physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and a commitment to working safely.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various tasks.
- Proficiency in Sesotho and conversational English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (even casual labor) on a construction site is an advantage.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and construction equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license (Code B or higher) will be considered a plus for future growth opportunities.
