Job Description

At Unik Construction Engineering, we don’t just build structures; we build communities and create lasting legacies. We are currently searching for motivated and hardworking Construction Crew Members to bolster our project teams operating within the Mpharane, Leribe area. This full-time role offers a challenging yet rewarding environment where your efforts directly contribute to the successful completion of vital civil engineering and building projects. You will engage in a variety of tasks crucial to every phase of construction, from the initial ground clearing and excavation to the final touches that bring a blueprint to life. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, operating hand and power tools, assisting with the assembly of scaffolding, mixing and pouring concrete, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the worksite. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, performing excavation tasks, and setting up temporary structures.
  • Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operate various hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, compactors, and mixers, under supervision.
  • Assist skilled tradespeople, including carpenters, masons, steel fixers, and electricians, with their daily tasks.
  • Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other building materials according to project specifications.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring, bracing, and barricades following strict safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, and verbal instructions from supervisors to complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant industry best practices.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Assist in the setup and takedown of project sites, including fencing, signage, and temporary facilities.

Required Skills

  • Proven physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures and willingness to follow them.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from supervisors and experienced team members.
  • Strong sense of punctuality, reliability, and commitment to daily attendance.
  • Ability to handle and operate basic construction tools safely and competently.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of verifiable experience in a construction environment or similar manual labor role.
  • Valid driver's license (Code B/EB or higher is a significant advantage).
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency procedures on a construction site.
  • Certification in any construction-related skill, such as scaffolding erection, concrete works, or heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both Sesotho and English.
  • Completion of a vocational training program in construction or a related trade.
