Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general site cleanup and maintenance to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
  • Assist skilled tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, masons, plumbers, electricians) with various tasks.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment around the job site.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to prepare building sites.
  • Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with concrete pouring, finishing, and demolition tasks.
  • Provide physical support for various on-site operations and heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and experienced team members.
  • Basic understanding and commitment to workplace safety principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented construction environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a labourer role, even outside of construction, demonstrating physical capability.
  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection, Working at Heights, First Aid).
  • Valid G-class driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites (not mandatory but an asset).
