The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Construction Helpers to join our dynamic team at the Ha Lejone project site in Butha-Buthe. As a Construction Helper, you will be an integral part of our on-site team, working closely with skilled tradespeople and engineers to ensure the smooth and efficient progress of construction activities. Your day-to-day will be varied, providing exposure to different aspects of civil engineering and construction, from earthworks to structural elements. Safety is paramount at LHDA, and comprehensive training will be provided to ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople (e.g., masons, carpenters, electricians) with various tasks as directed.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials (e.g., bricks, sand, cement, tools) safely around the site.
  • Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and setting up equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Perform general labour duties, including sweeping, tidying, and maintaining site hygiene.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Assist with the mixing of concrete, mortar, and other construction compounds.
  • Support the installation and dismantling of temporary structures, scaffolding, and formwork.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
