Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects adhere to specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress monitoring.
  • Oversee site safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, especially pertinent to historic sites.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality of work, compliance with designs, and adherence to environmental standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and local authorities, managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing proactive solutions.
  • Prepare and present regular project reports, progress updates, and financial forecasts to senior management.
  • Ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained.
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and change orders.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager on complex projects, minimum 5 years.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations in the UK.
  • Demonstrable experience in project planning, scheduling (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), and budget management.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in health and safety regulations and site management best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.

  • Competency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with heritage or conservation projects.
  • Familiarity with Scottish planning and building regulations.
