Job Description

Career.zycto is excited to partner with a prominent construction firm in the bustling Tsawwassen, Delta region to recruit an accomplished and visionary Construction Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead complex, high-impact projects from conception to completion. As a Construction Manager, you will be the linchpin of our client’s on-site operations, ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will be responsible for overseeing all phases of construction, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and supervision of trade contractors and site personnel.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of successfully managing diverse commercial, residential, or industrial construction projects. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contracts, while proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks. This role demands exceptional leadership skills to foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment, motivating superintendents, foremen, and workers to achieve project milestones. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory bodies, effectively communicating project progress, addressing concerns, and negotiating solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of construction projects from initiation to closeout.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource requirements.
  • Oversee site operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage project budgets, approve expenditures, and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, providing regular updates and addressing concerns proactively.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal building codes and regulations.
  • Prepare and present project reports, forecasts, and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Champion a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement on site.
  • Facilitate effective communication among all project participants.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex multi-disciplinary construction projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Solid financial acumen and experience with budget management.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP accreditation.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction.
  • Knowledge of local Tsawwassen/Delta building codes and permit processes.
  • Experience working with international teams or diverse workforces.
