Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Victoria Falls. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and closing of various construction projects, primarily focused on our lodges, tourism infrastructure, and conservation facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a crucial role in shaping the physical landscape of Wild Horizons, ensuring our facilities not only meet but exceed operational and aesthetic expectations, all while adhering to local regulations and sustainable building practices. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation, in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee all phases of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
- Manage project budgets, approve expenditures, and ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Oversee contract administration, including bidding processes, contractor selection, and performance management.
- Ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained.
- Champion sustainable construction practices and ensure projects align with Wild Horizons' environmental conservation values.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in construction project management, preferably in hospitality or commercial sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Asana).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and control costs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
- Experience working in a remote or environmentally sensitive location.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean building codes and construction practices.
