Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., masons, carpenters, electricians) with various construction tasks.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning, clearing debris, and setting up equipment.
- Load and unload building materials, tools, and equipment manually or with assistance.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently, including drills, saws, and shovels.
- Perform general labouring duties such as digging trenches, mixing concrete, and moving heavy objects.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, protocols, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work site.
- Follow instructions from site supervisors and team leaders accurately and promptly.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure project milestones are met.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Worker or in a similar labour-intensive role for at least 1 year.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials, and methods.
- Strong understanding and commitment to site safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training or certification in a construction-related trade.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience operating specific construction machinery (e.g., compactors, jackhammers) with relevant certification.
- Prior experience working on large-scale commercial or residential projects.
