Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor on construction sites.
- Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
- Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and hazardous materials.
- Assist carpenters, masons, electricians, and other skilled tradespersons.
- Load, unload, and transport building materials, tools, and supplies.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to grade specifications.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, temporary structures, and barricades.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to understand project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project deadlines are met.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a construction worker or in a similar role (at least 2 years)
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Physical stamina and strength to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols
- Basic knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, forklifts)
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Hawaii
- First Aid and CPR certification
