Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a meticulous and highly organized Copyright Administrator to join our legal team in San Francisco. This pivotal full-time role involves comprehensive management of our intellectual property assets, focusing specifically on copyright registration, tracking, and enforcement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of copyright law, excellent administrative skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining our proprietary content. You will be instrumental in safeguarding our creative works, collaborating closely with legal counsel, content creators, and external partners to ensure compliance and protect our rights globally.

As a Copyright Administrator, you will be the cornerstone of our IP protection efforts, responsible for the day-to-day operations that underpin our legal strategy. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end copyright registration process for various forms of content, including digital media, software, and publications, with relevant governmental offices (e.g., U.S. Copyright Office).
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all intellectual property assets, including registration dates, renewal schedules, and ownership details within an IP management system.
  • Conduct research and analysis on copyright-related matters, including fair use, public domain, and international copyright treaties, to support legal counsel.
  • Assist in monitoring for potential copyright infringement across various platforms and channels, preparing documentation for cease and desist letters or takedown notices.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., content development, marketing, product) to gather necessary information and documentation for new copyright filings.
  • Support legal counsel in preparing for litigation or dispute resolution related to copyright claims.
  • Process and track licensing agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Generate regular reports on IP portfolio status, upcoming deadlines, and infringement activities for stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of changes in copyright law and intellectual property best practices to advise on potential impacts and necessary adjustments to internal procedures.
  • Organize and maintain a comprehensive digital and physical filing system for all copyright documents and correspondence.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in copyright administration, legal support, or intellectual property management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of U.S. copyright law and registration procedures.
  • Proficiency with intellectual property management software and databases.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to conduct thorough legal research and analyze complex information.
