Job Description

Are you a visionary artist with a passion for bringing characters to life through the power of attire? Career.zycto is seeking a highly imaginative and skilled Costume Designer to join our dynamic creative team in Zandamela, Inhambane. This is an unparalleled opportunity to shape the visual identity of our productions, working across diverse projects that range from captivating local narratives to innovative digital content, educational programs, and potential theatrical ventures. We believe that costumes are not merely clothing; they are essential storytelling tools, capable of conveying epoch, social status, personality, and emotion with profound impact, instantly transporting audiences into the heart of a story.

As our Costume Designer, you will be at the forefront of our creative process, collaborating closely with directors, producers, actors, and other design departments to conceptualize and execute breathtaking costume designs. Your role will encompass the entire lifecycle of costume creation, from initial research into historical periods or fictional worlds, through detailed conceptualization and sketching, to meticulous fabric sourcing, pattern making, construction, fitting sessions, and on-set management to ensure continuity and authenticity. We are looking for someone who thrives on challenge, possesses an impeccable eye for detail, and has a deep understanding of historical accuracy, cultural nuances, and contemporary fashion trends, along with a keen awareness of how light, movement, and camera angles interact with garments. You will transform abstract ideas into tangible garments that enhance narrative depth and visual spectacle, making every character’s appearance a deliberate and impactful choice.

Beyond your exceptional design prowess, we value a collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills. You will be expected to present your ideas clearly and persuasively, manage budgets effectively, oversee a small team of assistants or seamstresses, and troubleshoot creative or logistical challenges with ingenuity and grace under pressure. Our projects demand both artistic flair and practical execution, requiring a designer who is adept at balancing aesthetic aspirations with production realities and timelines. If you are ready to immerse yourself in a stimulating environment where your creativity is celebrated, your contributions directly impact the success and artistic integrity of our work, and you wish to leave an indelible mark on culturally significant productions, then we encourage you to apply and become a pivotal part of the Career.zycto family. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inspiring workplace where innovation flourishes, and every team member plays a vital role in our collective storytelling journey in Mozambique and beyond.
