Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough credit assessments and financial analysis of loan applications from individuals and businesses.
  • Evaluate creditworthiness, assess risk factors, and recommend appropriate credit limits and loan terms.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit reports and present findings to management for decision-making.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the company's credit policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor existing loan portfolios for performance, identify potential risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary documentation, clarify information, and explain credit decisions.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to streamline the loan origination and disbursement process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit applications and related documentation.
  • Stay informed about market trends, economic conditions, and changes in credit regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance credit risk management skills.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Credit Officer or in a similar lending/financial analysis role.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis principles, financial statements, and risk assessment techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of banking software and credit management systems.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in banking, credit management, or financial analysis.
  • Experience with microfinance or SME lending in the Kenyan market.
  • Familiarity with local regulatory frameworks (e.g., CBK guidelines).
