Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive field scouting and analysis to assess crop health, identify pest and disease pressures, and evaluate nutrient deficiencies.
- Develop and implement integrated pest management (IPM) and nutrient management plans tailored to client-specific needs and local environmental conditions.
- Provide expert agronomic advice and recommendations to farmers on crop rotation, planting strategies, irrigation, and harvest timing.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of various agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, pesticides, and biostimulants.
- Utilize precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GPS, GIS, remote sensing) for data collection, analysis, and informed decision-making.
- Prepare detailed reports on field observations, recommendations, and projected outcomes for clients.
- Stay abreast of the latest agricultural research, technologies, and regulatory changes within the industry.
- Facilitate educational workshops and field days for clients to disseminate best practices and new information.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, agricultural suppliers, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with internal teams to share insights, improve service offerings, and contribute to company growth strategies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Horticulture, or a related agricultural field.
- Proven experience in field crop diagnostics and agronomic consulting.
- Strong understanding of soil science, plant physiology, entomology, and plant pathology.
- Proficiency in agricultural software and precision agriculture tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills (French and English are highly valued).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent field visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant agricultural discipline.
- Professional Agronomist (P.Ag.) designation or eligibility in Quebec.
- Experience with diverse crop types prevalent in the Quebec region.
- Familiarity with local agricultural regulations and environmental stewardship programs.
