Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cyber Security Analyst to join our expanding team in Beeston, Nottingham. This is a crucial role for an individual passionate about protecting digital assets, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to evolving cyber threats. As a Cyber Security Analyst, you will be at the forefront of our defence mechanisms, responsible for monitoring our security infrastructure, detecting and analyzing potential security incidents, and implementing effective countermeasures.

Your day-to-day will involve a diverse range of tasks, from conducting in-depth security assessments and penetration testing to managing security information and event management (SIEM) systems. You will play a vital role in developing and enforcing security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organisation. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security systems for anomalies, alerts, and potential threats, utilizing SIEM and other security tools.
  • Conduct thorough investigation and analysis of security incidents, determining root causes and recommending remediation actions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on systems and applications to identify and address weaknesses.
  • Administer and configure security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-malware, and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
  • Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees on best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve our security posture.
  • Generate reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and overall security performance.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and infrastructure projects.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm, Sentinel)
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S)
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys)
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) security hardening
  • Knowledge of incident response procedures and frameworks (e.g., NIST, SANS)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CySA+, GSEC)
  • Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001, GDPR, and other compliance standards
