Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain security solutions and infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAFs, and SIEM systems.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify and address weaknesses in systems and applications.
  • Monitor security systems and network traffic for suspicious activity, respond to security incidents, and conduct forensic analysis when necessary.
  • Develop, review, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory compliance (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and infrastructure deployment.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, recommending and implementing proactive measures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams on security-related matters and contribute to security awareness training initiatives.
  • Manage access control systems and identity management solutions to ensure least privilege and segregation of duties.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning to ensure rapid recovery from security breaches.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack, LogRhythm)
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and network security architecture
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools and penetration testing methodologies
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles and platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Hands-on experience with operating system security (Windows, Linux, macOS)
  • Knowledge of common scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Understanding of incident response processes and forensic techniques
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with risk assessment frameworks (e.g., NIST RMF, ISO 27005)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GIAC certifications.
  • Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
  • Previous experience in a security operations center (SOC) environment.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA).
