Job Description

Are you a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst with a passion for transforming raw data into actionable business insights? Equity Bank is seeking a dedicated Professional Data Analyst specializing in Business Intelligence to join our dynamic team in Embu County. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in supporting our strategic decision-making processes by designing, developing, and maintaining robust BI solutions. You will work closely with various business units, translating complex data into clear, concise, and compelling narratives that drive business growth, optimize operations, and enhance customer experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, clean, and transform large datasets from various internal and external sources to ensure data integrity and usability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and analytical tools using leading BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Conduct in-depth statistical analysis and data modeling to identify key trends, patterns, and insights relevant to business performance.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business stakeholders, including management and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to improve data collection, storage, and accessibility processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of business strategies and initiatives through data-driven performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports.
  • Present findings and insights to diverse audiences, effectively communicating the 'story' behind the data.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices in data analytics, business intelligence, and financial services.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least one leading Business Intelligence tool (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data modeling techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience in the financial services or banking industry, particularly with customer behavior analysis or risk management data.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for advanced data analysis and automation.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery).
  • Certification in a relevant BI tool (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
