Job Description

Are you passionate about data and possess a keen eye for detail? Vodacom Moçambique is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data Warehouse Technician to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and optimization of our critical data warehouse infrastructure. You will be involved in monitoring ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, troubleshooting data load failures, performing data quality checks, and assisting with performance tuning activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate data loading into the data warehouse.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data load failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including database backups, index rebuilds, and space management.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and BI Analysts to understand data requirements and support data extraction for reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for data warehouse processes, data flows, and operational procedures.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Assist in the optimization of data warehouse queries and ETL jobs for improved performance.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical data warehouse support as required.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements within data warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and security standards.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including Kimball methodology, star and snowflake schemas.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, SSIS, Talend, or similar.
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems (RDBMS) like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, Shell scripting) for automation tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics, Google BigQuery).
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
