Job Description

Are you a meticulous and security-conscious Database Administrator with a passion for ensuring data integrity and robust system performance? SD Worx (Mauritius) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator specializing in Data and Security to join our dynamic IT team in Rose Hill. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of our various database systems. Your primary focus will be on managing our SQL Server environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and, crucially, stringent data security measures that adhere to global best practices and local regulations.

This position demands a proactive individual who can not only react to issues but also anticipate potential problems and implement preventative solutions, continuously enhancing our data infrastructure’s resilience. You will be responsible for defining and enforcing comprehensive data security policies, managing user access with precision, conducting regular and thorough security audits, and ensuring unwavering compliance with relevant data protection regulations such as GDPR and local Mauritian data privacy laws. Beyond security, your expertise will be vital in strategic areas like performance tuning, where you’ll optimize complex queries and database schemas for maximum efficiency. You’ll also be involved in critical capacity planning to support our growing data needs, and the development and rigorous testing of robust backup and recovery strategies, including advanced disaster recovery planning to safeguard our most valuable asset: data.

Working closely with our software development teams, system administrators, and other key stakeholders, you will provide essential database support for application needs, resolve intricate database issues with innovative solutions, and contribute significantly to the overall architectural strategy of our evolving data infrastructure. Your ability to translate business requirements into technical database solutions and communicate effectively across teams will be paramount. We expect you to take ownership of database-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope, while always prioritizing data integrity and system uptime. This includes managing database installations, upgrades, patching, and data migrations with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, possesses exceptional problem-solving acumen, and is deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of data integrity and security. If you are passionate about leveraging cutting-edge database technology, eager to tackle complex challenges, and aspire to make a significant impact within a global leader in HR and payroll services, we encourage you to apply. Become a key player in our evolving technological landscape, where your contributions directly influence the reliability and security of our services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, contribute to critical business operations, and grow professionally within a collaborative and supportive environment that values innovation and continuous learning.
