Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions (both relational and NoSQL).
- Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and query analysis to ensure optimal system efficiency.
- Manage database security, including user access, roles, and data encryption.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including schemas, stored procedures, and data flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate database solutions into applications and services.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for all production databases.
- Monitor database systems for performance issues, errors, and potential vulnerabilities.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical database incidents, ensuring high availability and swift resolution.
- Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices, evaluating and recommending new tools or approaches.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
- Experience with database design, data modeling, and schema normalization.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with database security best practices and data integrity principles.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
