Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures with precision and care.
  • Conduct thorough periodontal charting, assessments, and screenings to identify signs of periodontal disease.
  • Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia in accordance with state regulations.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and the importance of periodontal health.
  • Take and develop high-quality diagnostic radiographs (X-rays).
  • Document patient care services, medical history, and treatment plans accurately and comprehensively using practice management software.
  • Collaborate effectively with dentists, periodontists, and other dental team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of periodontal therapies and make recommendations for ongoing care.
  • Assist with other clinical duties as needed to support practice operations.

Required Skills

  • Valid Delaware Dental Hygienist license.
  • Certification for local anesthesia administration in Delaware.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist, with a strong focus on periodontal care.
  • Proficiency in performing scaling and root planing, debridement, and other periodontal therapies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Knowledge of dental software systems (e.g., Dentrix, EagleSoft).
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with dental advancements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Experience with advanced periodontal instrumentation and laser therapy.
  • Familiarity with digital radiography and intraoral cameras.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
