Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Desktop Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team in Ruwais. This critical role is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to our employees, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of desktop computers, peripherals, and associated software within our extensive industrial environment. As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for IT-related issues, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, installing and configuring new equipment, and maintaining our IT infrastructure. Your expertise will directly impact the productivity of our workforce by minimizing downtime and providing effective, timely resolutions to technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level and second-level technical support for all desktop hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, macOS), applications, and network connectivity for end-users.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, including network connectivity problems, printer malfunctions, and application errors.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and email configurations within Active Directory and other systems.
- Perform regular maintenance, updates, and security patches on desktop systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Document support activities, solutions, and knowledge base articles for common issues to improve efficiency and self-service options.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT personnel or specialized teams as required, ensuring timely resolution.
- Assist in the deployment of new IT equipment and infrastructure projects, contributing to technology upgrades.
- Educate users on best practices for IT security, data management, and efficient software usage.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets and manage asset lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in a Desktop Support or IT Support role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office Suite (O365).
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and repair (desktops, laptops, printers, monitors).
- Familiarity with network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic network troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Valid UAE driving license (preferred due to the large site and potential travel within the complex).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician – MCDST, ITIL Foundation).
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy management.
- Experience supporting remote users and mobile devices.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies.
