Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for diverse patient populations across various clinical settings.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized medical nutrition therapy plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Provide expert, culturally sensitive nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families, promoting self-management.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care.
  • Monitor and document patient progress in electronic health records, adjusting nutrition interventions as necessary and communicating changes to the team.
  • Participate actively in the development and review of clinical protocols, educational materials, and nutrition-related policies.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the nutrition department and the broader healthcare facility.
  • Stay rigorously updated on the latest research, guidelines, and advancements in dietetics and nutrition science.
  • Engage in community outreach and health promotion activities, including workshops and presentations, as required.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) designation or eligibility for registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC).
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive clinical experience as a Dietitian in a hospital or community healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical nutrition therapy, nutritional assessment, and counseling across a broad spectrum of conditions.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate specialization or certification in areas such as critical care, diabetes education, or renal nutrition.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to Vancouver's diverse population (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, Tagalog).
  • Experience with health promotion and community-based nutrition education programs.
  • Active membership in Dietitians of Canada or other relevant professional organizations.
  • Previous experience with international accreditation processes or working in diverse healthcare systems.
