Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly strategic, visionary, and results-oriented Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent enhancement initiatives in Redcliff, Midlands Province. This pivotal role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive learning strategies that not only align with our overarching organizational goals but also actively foster a vibrant culture of continuous professional growth and innovation. As the Director of L&D, you will be instrumental in proactively identifying existing skill gaps, accurately forecasting future talent needs, and creating innovative, scalable programs that equip our employees with the essential knowledge, competencies, and capabilities required to thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment.

You will spearhead the creation of a robust, modern learning ecosystem, leveraging a diverse range of modalities from cutting-edge e-learning platforms and interactive workshops to structured mentorship programs and practical, hands-on on-the-job training. This comprehensive responsibility includes meticulously evaluating existing training initiatives, strategically revamping curricula where necessary, and continually introducing best-in-class methodologies to ensure maximum engagement, retention, and demonstrable effectiveness. A key and crucial aspect of this role involves collaborating closely and strategically with senior leadership and various department heads to deeply understand specific development needs and then tailor bespoke solutions that drive measurable business outcomes and contribute directly to our strategic objectives. Furthermore, you will be entrusted with managing the L&D budget, expertly overseeing vendor relationships to ensure optimal value, and rigorously ensuring all programs adhere to the highest quality standards, internal policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive L&D strategy that aligns with Career.zycto’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative, engaging, and effective training programs and learning interventions.
  • Conduct thorough organizational and individual needs assessments to identify skill gaps, development opportunities, and future talent requirements.
  • Manage the overall L&D budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and demonstrating clear return on investment (ROI).
  • Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of relationships with external training providers and consultants.
  • Establish and implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of all learning programs, reporting on progress to senior leadership.
  • Foster a vibrant culture of continuous learning, professional development, and knowledge sharing across all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate strategically with senior leadership, HR partners, and department heads to ensure L&D initiatives directly support business goals.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a small team of L&D professionals, fostering their growth and expertise.
  • Ensure all learning programs and materials comply with relevant industry standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Familiarity with Zimbabwean labor laws, educational systems, and local cultural nuances impacting learning.
  • Proven experience in implementing blended learning solutions, gamification, and digital transformation initiatives in L&D.
