Job Description

Career.zycto is on the lookout for a visionary and strategic Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent enhancement initiatives. This pivotal role will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive learning strategies that align with our organizational goals and foster a culture of continuous growth. As our Director of Learning & Development, you will be responsible for identifying critical skill gaps, developing engaging and effective training programs, and leveraging innovative technologies to deliver impactful learning experiences across the entire organization.

We are seeking a leader who can not only manage but also inspire. You will build and mentor a high-performing L&D team, collaborate closely with senior leadership and department heads, and become a trusted advisor on all matters related to talent development. Your expertise will shape our employee journey, from onboarding and foundational skills training to advanced leadership development and specialized technical upskilling. This role demands a proactive individual with a deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and performance consulting. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy that aligns with Career.zycto's business objectives and talent strategy.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative learning programs, including e-learning, blended learning, workshops, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and determine appropriate learning solutions across various departments and employee levels.
  • Manage the L&D budget, resources, and vendor relationships effectively to ensure high-quality and cost-efficient program delivery.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of L&D programs, reporting on ROI and making data-driven improvements.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of L&D professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Partner with senior leadership and HR business partners to ensure L&D initiatives are integrated with broader talent management strategies.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and knowledge sharing throughout the organization.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a senior Learning & Development leadership role, preferably as a Director.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional design, adult learning methodologies, and talent management principles.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills with a track record of implementing impactful L&D programs.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in mentoring and developing L&D professionals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to measure program effectiveness and report on key L&D metrics.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Certifications in areas such as instructional design, change management, or leadership coaching (e.g., ATD, SHRM).
  • Experience working in a rapidly evolving or growth-oriented organization.
  • Familiarity with talent development best practices specific to the Zimbabwean or Southern African context.
