Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent enhancement initiatives in Plumtree, Matabeleland South Province. This pivotal role is responsible for the strategic direction, development, and execution of comprehensive learning and development programs that align with our organizational goals and foster a culture of continuous growth and excellence. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned L&D professional with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative training solutions that drive employee engagement, performance, and career progression.

As the Director of Learning & Development, you will be instrumental in identifying skill gaps, forecasting future talent needs, and building robust frameworks for professional development across all levels of the organization. You will leverage modern pedagogical approaches, digital learning platforms, and blended learning methodologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into actionable L&D strategies, champion diversity and inclusion through learning, and continuously measure the impact of programs on organizational performance and employee satisfaction. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and HR business partners to ensure L&D initiatives are integrated into the overall talent management strategy, preparing our workforce for future challenges and opportunities. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a holistic learning and development strategy aligned with Career.zycto's strategic objectives and future talent needs.
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative and impactful learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, soft skills enhancement, and onboarding.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of learning technologies and platforms (LMS, e-learning tools).
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across various departments and employee levels.
  • Establish robust metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness and ROI of L&D initiatives, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
  • Manage the L&D budget, resources, and vendor relationships efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth throughout the organization.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing L&D team, if applicable, or lead by example as a solo director.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and line managers to integrate learning solutions into performance management and career pathing.
  • Ensure all learning initiatives comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 8 years) in a senior Learning & Development role, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and blended learning methodologies.
  • Expertise in learning technology and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Exceptional strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions and measure program effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Learning & Development (e.g., CPLP, ATD certifications).
  • Experience working in a rapidly evolving industry or high-growth organization.
  • Familiarity with talent management software suites beyond just LMS.
  • Experience with global or cross-cultural learning initiatives.
