As the Director of Learning & Development at Career.zycto, you will be the strategic visionary behind our organizational growth and employee empowerment. Your mandate will encompass everything from identifying critical skill gaps and emerging talent needs across all departments to designing and delivering innovative training programs. This includes leadership development, technical skills enhancement, compliance training, and soft skills workshops. You will leverage cutting-edge instructional design principles, integrate diverse learning methodologies—from digital platforms to experiential learning—and foster an environment where curiosity and professional growth are paramount.
Beyond program creation, you will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of all L&D initiatives, utilizing robust metrics and feedback mechanisms to demonstrate clear ROI and refine strategies iteratively. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term L&D strategy aligned with Career.zycto’s strategic goals and values.
- Identify current and future skill gaps and training needs through robust needs assessments and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Design, develop, and implement innovative learning programs across various modalities (e.g., e-learning, workshops, blended learning, coaching, mentoring).
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of learning technologies and platforms.
- Establish and monitor key L&D metrics, analyze data, and report on the effectiveness and ROI of learning initiatives to senior leadership.
- Oversee the leadership development pipeline, talent management, and succession planning programs.
- Manage the L&D budget, external vendor relationships, and contracts effectively.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing L&D team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging learning technologies, and talent development trends.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional growth throughout the organization.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a leadership/managerial role.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful L&D strategies and programs.
- Expertise in instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and diverse training methodologies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in leveraging learning technologies (LMS, authoring tools, virtual platforms).
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills to assess needs, evaluate impact, and drive data-informed decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Organizational Development, Adult Education, HR Management, or a related field.
- Certification in coaching, psychometric assessment, or specific leadership development programs.
- Experience in a rapidly growing or evolving industry.
- Familiarity with talent management systems and performance management processes.
- Experience working in the Zimbabwean market or similar emerging economies.
