As the Director of Learning & Development, you will define and execute a holistic L&D strategy that spans all levels of our organization, from entry-level staff to senior leadership. Your responsibilities will include identifying critical skill gaps through robust needs assessments, developing innovative training programs – encompassing leadership development, technical upskilling, compliance training, and soft skills enhancement – and leveraging cutting-edge learning technologies and methodologies. You will lead and mentor a dedicated team of L&D professionals, empowering them to deliver high-impact learning experiences that translate into tangible business results and improved employee engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive Learning & Development strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the L&D team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment.
  • Conduct thorough training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across all employee levels.
  • Design, develop, and deliver innovative and engaging learning programs, including e-learning modules, workshops, and blended learning solutions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all L&D initiatives using relevant metrics and feedback mechanisms, making data-driven improvements.
  • Manage the L&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximizing ROI on learning investments.
  • Partner with senior leadership, HR, and department heads to integrate L&D programs with broader talent management and business strategies.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and knowledge sharing throughout the organization.
  • Stay abreast of L&D best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends to ensure cutting-edge program delivery.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in strategic L&D leadership and program management.
  • Exceptional instructional design and curriculum development capabilities.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in various learning methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions regarding L&D effectiveness.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Project management expertise with a focus on timely and budget-conscious program delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or SHRM-SCP.
  • Experience in a diverse, multi-cultural work environment, ideally within Southern Africa.
  • Familiarity with talent management software and HR analytics tools.
  • Experience working in industries relevant to Victoria Falls (e.g., tourism, hospitality, conservation, or professional services).
