Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Employment Specialist to join our team in Bogenhausen, Munich. This pivotal full-time role involves empowering individuals with disabilities to secure and maintain meaningful employment, while simultaneously educating and collaborating with employers to foster inclusive hiring practices. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, acting as a vital advocate for our clients.
As a Disability Employment Specialist, you will manage a diverse caseload, providing comprehensive support through all stages of the job search process. This includes conducting in-depth assessments to understand each client’s unique skills, aspirations, and support needs, followed by tailored job readiness training, resume building, and interview coaching. A significant part of your role will be actively engaging with local businesses in Munich and surrounding areas to identify suitable employment opportunities and build strong, lasting relationships. You will serve as a resource for employers, offering guidance on reasonable accommodations, disability awareness, and the benefits of a diverse workforce.
Beyond direct client and employer interaction, this role requires diligent case management, accurate documentation, and the ability to track client progress and outcomes. You will work within a person-centered framework, continuously adapting strategies to meet individual goals and overcome challenges. Your expertise will also be called upon to develop and facilitate workshops on topics like workplace rights, self-advocacy, and career development. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vocational assessments to identify clients' strengths, skills, interests, and employment goals.
- Develop individualized employment plans (IEPs) in collaboration with clients, outlining clear objectives and strategies.
- Provide one-on-one job coaching, resume writing assistance, interview preparation, and job search guidance.
- Actively engage with local businesses to identify suitable job openings, negotiate placements, and build strong employer relationships.
- Educate employers on disability awareness, reasonable accommodations, and the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities.
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions on job readiness, workplace etiquette, and self-advocacy skills.
- Monitor client progress post-placement, providing ongoing support to ensure job retention and success.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting all interactions and outcomes in accordance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the workplace and community.
- Stay informed about current employment trends, disability legislation, and community resources relevant to employment for people with disabilities.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) experience in employment counseling, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field.
- Proven ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse populations, particularly individuals with disabilities.
- Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities for people with disabilities in the labor market.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with employers and community partners.
- Proficiency in case management and record-keeping.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to client success.
- Fluent in German and English (oral and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field.
- Certification in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling (e.g., CRC) or a related employment specialist certification.
- Familiarity with local Munich job market and employer networks.
- Experience with disability-specific employment software or databases.
- Additional language skills (e.g., Turkish, Arabic, Polish) are a plus.
