Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally organized and proactive Dispatcher to manage delivery and transport control operations in Bearsden, Glasgow. This pivotal role is at the core of our logistics network, ensuring the efficient, timely, and safe movement of goods. As a Dispatcher, you will be the central point of contact, orchestrating drivers, vehicles, and deliveries to meet demanding schedules and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and optimize daily delivery routes for multiple drivers and vehicles to ensure efficiency and timely service.
  • Allocate vehicles and drivers based on availability, load capacity, and route requirements.
  • Monitor real-time progress of deliveries using tracking systems and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing support, directions, and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Address and resolve operational issues, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in delivery schedules, promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, vehicle maintenance, and driver logs.
  • Ensure compliance with all transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure timely loading and dispatch of goods.
  • Generate performance reports on delivery metrics, efficiency, and driver performance.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints related to deliveries with professionalism and urgency.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dispatch, logistics, or transport coordination role.
  • Proficiency with routing and scheduling software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Glasgow and surrounding areas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in record-keeping and data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific transport management systems (TMS).
  • Familiarity with HGV driver hours regulations and working time directives.
  • Previous experience in customer service within a logistics context.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules and requirements.
