Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally organized and proactive Dispatcher to manage delivery and transport control operations in Bearsden, Glasgow. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and optimize daily delivery routes for multiple drivers and vehicles to ensure efficiency and timely service.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers based on availability, load capacity, and route requirements.
- Monitor real-time progress of deliveries using tracking systems and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing support, directions, and troubleshooting assistance.
- Address and resolve operational issues, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in delivery schedules, promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, vehicle maintenance, and driver logs.
- Ensure compliance with all transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure timely loading and dispatch of goods.
- Generate performance reports on delivery metrics, efficiency, and driver performance.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints related to deliveries with professionalism and urgency.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dispatch, logistics, or transport coordination role.
- Proficiency with routing and scheduling software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
- Strong geographical knowledge of Glasgow and surrounding areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
