Key Responsibilities
- Curate and perform engaging DJ sets across a wide range of genres suitable for various hotel venues (e.g., lounge, bar, special events).
- Maintain and operate professional audio equipment, including mixers, turntables/CDJs, speakers, and lighting systems.
- Interact positively and professionally with guests, responding to requests and feedback to enhance their experience.
- Collaborate with the events and marketing teams to plan and execute themed nights, promotional events, and special performances.
- Research and stay updated on current music trends, popular tracks, and new artists to keep playlists fresh and relevant.
- Ensure sound levels are appropriate for the venue and time of day, adhering to hotel policies and local regulations.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues with audio equipment and report major malfunctions promptly.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, punctuality, and presentation.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of entertainment equipment for various events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a professional DJ in a hospitality or entertainment setting.
- Extensive knowledge of diverse music genres (e.g., house, commercial, lounge, local Mauritian music, international hits).
- Proficiency in operating professional DJ equipment (e.g., Pioneer CDJs, Technics turntables, various mixers, software like Serato/Rekordbox).
- Excellent sense of rhythm, timing, and musicality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and engaging demeanor.
- Ability to read a crowd and adapt musical selections to maintain energy and engagement.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Fluency in English and French; Creole is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or training in sound engineering or music production.
- Experience with lighting design and operation for live events.
- A portfolio or demo mixes showcasing a range of styles and event types.
- Ability to provide own basic DJ equipment (though hotel equipment will be provided).
