Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized and group dog training programs using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Conduct initial consultations and behavioral assessments to understand client needs and develop appropriate training plans.
- Teach owners effective communication techniques and handling skills to reinforce training at home.
- Address a wide range of behavioral issues, including fear, anxiety, aggression, and house-training challenges.
- Maintain detailed records of dog progress, training sessions, and client interactions.
- Educate clients on responsible pet ownership, canine body language, and the importance of continued socialization.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback and support to clients throughout the training process.
- Stay current with the latest dog training methodologies, research, and industry best practices.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for all dogs during training sessions.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional dog training experience.
- Proven expertise in positive reinforcement and force-free training methods.
- Strong understanding of canine behavior, learning theory, and breed-specific traits.
- Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills.
- Ability to effectively educate and motivate dog owners.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for animals.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized professional dog training organization (e.g., CCPDT, KPA-CTP, IAABC).
- Experience working with a diverse range of dog breeds and temperaments.
- Knowledge of animal first aid and CPR.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset for serving our Quebec City community.
