Job Description
We are seeking a highly professional, reliable, and experienced Driver to join our esteemed team at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. This pivotal role involves providing safe, punctual, and comfortable transportation services for our guests, corporate partners, and lodge staff. As a Driver, you will be the first and last point of contact for many of our visitors, embodying the hospitality and professionalism of Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. You will be responsible for navigating various routes, including those to and from Kigali International Airport, within Musanze district, and to key tourist destinations like Volcanoes National Park. Beyond driving, this role demands excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, and a keen understanding of guest service. The ideal candidate will possess an impeccable driving record, strong local knowledge of Rwanda’s roads and attractions, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and comfort. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport guests, corporate clients, and lodge staff to designated destinations, including airport transfers, local excursions, and inter-lodge travel.
- Maintain the assigned vehicle in pristine condition, ensuring cleanliness, regular servicing, and timely reporting of any mechanical issues or damage.
- Adhere strictly to all Rwandan traffic laws and lodge safety protocols, promoting a culture of defensive driving and passenger safety.
- Assist guests with luggage handling and provide courteous, respectful service at all times, responding to their needs professionally.
- Plan optimal routes considering traffic, road conditions, and guest schedules to ensure punctuality.
- Maintain accurate logbooks of journeys, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for guests, providing basic information about local attractions, culture, and lodge services when appropriate.
- Represent Mountain Gorilla View Lodge with professionalism, discretion, and a positive attitude.
- Be available for flexible working hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per operational requirements.
Required Skills
- Valid Rwandan driving license (Category B, C or D preferred for passenger transport)
- Minimum of 2 years professional driving experience, preferably in a hospitality or corporate environment.
- Proven clean driving record with no major accidents or traffic violations.
- Excellent knowledge of Musanze, Northern Province, and key routes to Kigali and tourist sites.
- Strong command of Kinyarwanda and English (written and spoken).
- Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor vehicle checks and troubleshoot issues.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- High degree of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding guests and corporate matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international tourists or high-profile clients.
- Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
- Certification in defensive driving or first aid.
- Familiarity with various vehicle types, including 4×4 vehicles commonly used in tourism.
- Customer service training or background.
