Key Responsibilities
- Curate and execute diverse musical sets that align with the hotel's brand and specific event themes, ranging from ambient lounge music to upbeat dance tracks.
- Operate and maintain professional audio and lighting equipment, ensuring optimal sound quality and visual appeal.
- Engage with guests, take appropriate requests, and manage the flow of the event to create an inclusive and dynamic atmosphere.
- Collaborate with the hotel's F&B and Events teams to plan and coordinate entertainment schedules and special performances.
- Stay updated on current music trends, artist releases, and technological advancements in DJ equipment and software.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during performances promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, representing the hotel's high standards.
- Adhere to all hotel policies, safety regulations, and local licensing requirements related to music and entertainment.
- Prepare custom mixes or playlists for specific events, promotions, or themed nights as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a professional DJ in hotels, resorts, clubs, or upscale event venues.
- Exceptional knowledge of multiple music genres including but not limited to lounge, jazz, house, pop, R&B, and local Mauritian music.
- Advanced technical proficiency with professional DJ equipment (Pioneer CDJs, turntables, mixers) and software (Serato, Rekordbox, Traktor).
- Strong ability to read and engage a crowd, adapting music selection and energy levels to suit the audience and occasion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable personality.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per entertainment schedule.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for audio and lighting equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Music Production, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with live sound mixing and stage management.
- Fluency in multiple languages, especially French and English.
- A strong portfolio of past performances or recorded mixes.
- Local knowledge of the Mauritian music scene and industry contacts.
- Experience in operating sophisticated lighting systems (e.g., DMX controlled).
