Aga Khan Education Services, Tanzania is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Assistant to join our team in Kiuyu, Mtambwe. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities and lesson plans.
- Supervise children during playtime, meal times, and nap times, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Support children with personal care routines, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene practices.
- Observe and document children's progress, behaviour, and development, providing feedback to the lead teacher.
- Facilitate positive social interactions among children and resolve conflicts constructively.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's daily activities and progress, under the guidance of the lead teacher.
- Prepare and organize learning materials and resources for classroom activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Adhere to all school policies, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines related to child care.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working with young children (ages 0-5) in an educational or childcare setting.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and adaptability to a flexible work schedule.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of local language (e.g., Swahili) in addition to English.
- Experience in a multi-cultural educational environment.
- Familiarity with play-based learning methodologies.
