Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a caseload of pupils with attendance, welfare, and safeguarding concerns.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and risk assessments through home visits and meetings with families, schools, and other agencies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor effective attendance improvement plans and welfare interventions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to schools, parents, and carers on education welfare legislation and local authority procedures.
- Liaise effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including social services, health professionals, and youth offending teams.
- Prepare detailed reports for statutory reviews, case conferences, and potential court proceedings (e.g., truancy prosecutions).
- Act as a lead professional or actively contribute to multi-agency teams focused on child protection and early help.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records in line with data protection policies.
- Advocate for the rights and best interests of children and young people, ensuring their voice is heard.
Required Skills
- Proven extensive experience (minimum 4 years) in education welfare, social work, or a related field involving direct work with children and families.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Education Act, Children Act, and safeguarding frameworks in Scotland.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and mediation skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of assessing complex situations and developing appropriate strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage a demanding caseload, and prioritize effectively.

- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travel across the Aberdeen area.
