Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a commercial van for deliveries and collections across designated routes.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring secure transit and preventing damage.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, traffic laws, and company driving policies.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including manifests, proof of delivery, and mileage logs.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Handle delivery paperwork and payments (if applicable) accurately.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the company vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding delays, issues, or route changes.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving License (Category B)
- Clean driving record
- Proven experience as a Van Driver (minimum 12 months)
- Excellent knowledge of local geography and routes in York and surrounding areas
- Strong navigational skills and ability to use GPS systems
- Ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised
