Key Responsibilities

  • Daily feeding and watering of various livestock (e.g., cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry) according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
  • Cleaning and maintaining animal housing, pens, and enclosures to ensure hygiene and prevent disease.
  • Monitoring the health and well-being of livestock, reporting any signs of illness, injury, or distress to senior farm staff.
  • Assisting with animal handling, including moving livestock between pastures, preparing for veterinary visits, and general care routines.
  • Performing general farm maintenance tasks such as fence repair, pasture management, equipment cleaning, and minor repairs.
  • Operating and maintaining basic farm machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assisting with birthing processes and care of young animals as required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of feeding, breeding, health treatments, and animal movements.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and animal welfare standards.
  • Supporting senior farm staff in various ad-hoc duties to ensure smooth farm operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience working with livestock or in a farm environment (minimum 1 year preferred).
  • Strong understanding of animal welfare principles and safe handling techniques.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently when necessary.
  • Excellent observational skills for monitoring animal health and behaviour.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of farm equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid UK Driving License (Category B or BE preferred).
  • Formal qualification in agriculture, animal husbandry, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific types of livestock (e.g., cattle, sheep, poultry).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Basic knowledge of agricultural machinery maintenance.
