Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on electric vehicle systems, including batteries, motors, inverters, charging systems, and related components.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative services on electric vehicles according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Utilize specialized diagnostic tools, software, and equipment to identify and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues.
- Document all services performed, including diagnosis, parts used, and labor time, accurately and thoroughly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, especially when working with high-voltage systems, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in electric vehicle technology, repair techniques, and industry best practices through continuous training and self-study.
- Provide clear and concise explanations of services performed and vehicle status to service advisors and, when necessary, directly to customers.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive and productive workshop atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Automotive or Electric Vehicle Technician.
- Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems and circuits.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software specific to electric vehicles.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and accessing technical resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Electric Vehicle Technology or High Voltage Systems.
- Associate's degree or vocational certification in Automotive Technology.
- ASE certifications (e.g., A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, L3 Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle).
- Experience with specific EV manufacturer diagnostic platforms (e.g., Tesla, Ford EV, GM EV).
