Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for electrical faults and breakdowns.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation for electrical projects.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, production, and quality teams to integrate electrical solutions seamlessly into existing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, energy efficiency, and cost reduction within electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance technicians and other staff as required.
  • Manage and oversee external contractors for specialized electrical work when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, control systems (PLCs, HMIs), and power distribution.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with relevant UK electrical safety standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Experience with specific PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and robotics.
  • Project management experience in an engineering context.
