Job Description
Massinga Beach Lodge is seeking a dedicated and experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment throughout our extensive property. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and prompt repairs on a wide range of electrical infrastructure, including generators, distribution boards, wiring, lighting, appliances, and various control systems. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting complex electrical issues, diagnosing faults accurately, and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime and prevent operational disruptions. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, a strong commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. You will play a critical role in maintaining the high standards of our lodge, contributing directly to guest satisfaction and the overall success of our operations in a beautiful, remote setting. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of electrical codes, a keen eye for detail, and the adaptability to handle diverse challenges that arise in a busy hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all electrical systems, including generators, switchgear, distribution panels, and lighting fixtures.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits, wiring, and components to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in lodge accommodations, kitchens, common areas, and utility buildings.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes and regulations.
- Install new electrical systems and components as required, adhering to design specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and material usage.
- Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and carry out urgent repairs to minimize operational impact.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and lodge staff to coordinate complex repairs and projects.
- Advise on necessary upgrades or replacements of outdated electrical equipment.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored safely.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician, preferably in a hospitality or remote site environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and components (AC/DC circuits, single/three-phase power).
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Competency in using a variety of electrical testing tools and equipment.
- Understanding of safety protocols and compliance with electrical codes.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues independently.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and elevated heights.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Fluency in Portuguese; working knowledge of English is highly advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with generator maintenance and automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems (solar PV) is a plus.
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Fire Fighting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
