Hwange Colliery Company Limited is offering an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Electrician Apprentice to join our skilled technical team. This full-time apprenticeship program is designed to provide comprehensive, hands-on training under the guidance of experienced journeyman electricians. You will gain invaluable practical experience across various facets of industrial electrical systems, from routine maintenance and troubleshooting to installation and repair of complex machinery within our mining operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Learn to interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams to understand wiring configurations and system layouts.
  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, components, and machinery to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, diagnostic testing, and perform corrective actions under supervision.
  • Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and work areas, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate actively in all assigned training modules, workshops, and classroom instruction.
  • Document work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced accurately.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Required Skills

  • Eagerness and strong desire to learn the electrical trade.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and physics principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity for hands-on tasks.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 O-levels including English, Mathematics, and Science.
  • Previous exposure to vocational training or technical subjects.
  • A valid Class 4 driver's license or learner's permit is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
