In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in delivering essential electrical services, ranging from intricate new installations and comprehensive rewires to meticulous fault finding, diagnostics, and proactive routine maintenance. You will work on diverse projects, from modern residential properties requiring smart home integrations and fuse board upgrades to commercial establishments needing robust, compliant, and energy-efficient electrical systems. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes and regulations (e.g., 18th Edition BS 7671).
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem efficiently.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and components to ensure optimal functionality and prevent future issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine wiring layouts and system requirements accurately.
- Supervise and train apprentices or junior electricians as needed, fostering a learning environment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and building codes at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with other trades professionals and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining clear communication and representing the company professionally on-site.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a qualified Electrician, minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship.
- Valid 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification is mandatory.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent recognized electrical qualification).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, control systems, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving, diagnostic, and fault-finding skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for client interaction and teamwork.
- Full, clean UK driving license.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- ECS Gold Card (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) or equivalent.
- 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.
- Experience with smart home technology installation and configuration.
- PAT Testing qualification.
- First Aid certification.
- Leadership or supervisory experience on electrical projects.
