Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician – Household/Office Contractor to join our network of trusted service providers for projects in the Kellits, Clarendon area and potentially wider parts of Jamaica. This contract role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who is proficient in all aspects of electrical installations, maintenance, and repair for both residential and commercial (office) environments. As a contractor, you will be responsible for independently managing electrical tasks, ensuring adherence to national electrical codes and safety standards, and delivering high-quality workmanship on time and within budget.
Your expertise will be crucial in supporting various projects, which may include new installations in developing community infrastructure, troubleshooting existing electrical systems in temporary offices, or upgrading wiring in associated residential units. We value meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential homes and office buildings.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, power outages, and faulty equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine optimal electrical layouts.
- Ensure all installations are compliant with the Jamaica Electrical Code and relevant safety regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
- Estimate materials and labor costs for electrical projects.
- Collaborate with other contractors and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide clear explanations of electrical issues and solutions to clients.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification recognized in Jamaica.
- Proven experience in household and office electrical systems (installation, maintenance, repair).
- Thorough knowledge of the Jamaica Electrical Code and safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage project timelines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Own a comprehensive set of electrical tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology.
- Experience with smart home automation or office network cabling.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient electrical solutions.
