Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and dedicated Electrician to join our dynamic maintenance staff. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, components, and equipment.
- Expertly diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults in wiring, fixtures, control systems, motors, and various machinery.
- Execute precise repairs, replacements, and new installations of electrical equipment, wiring, conduits, and lighting systems.
- Conduct thorough safety checks and ensure strict compliance with all applicable electrical codes and national regulations (e.g., SANS 10142-1).
- Accurately read and interpret complex blueprints, electrical schematics, technical drawings, and detailed manuals.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and material usage.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency electrical breakdowns and perform immediate corrective actions.
- Collaborate effectively with other maintenance staff, general contractors, and project managers as required.
- Provide clear, professional, and knowledgeable advice to clients regarding electrical issues and potential solutions.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, to the highest quality standards, and within agreed timelines.
Required Skills
- Valid Electrician Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal qualification).
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification practical experience as a maintenance electrician.
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems across residential, commercial, and light industrial settings.
- Thorough and up-to-date understanding of electrical safety procedures, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, continuity testers).
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Valid South African driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Wireman's License (Installation Electrician qualification).
- Experience with standby generator installations, maintenance, and fault finding.
- Basic knowledge of automation, PLC systems, and industrial control circuits.
- Valid First Aid and OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) certification.
